CBCC Men's Group
Overview of May’s Mens Breakfast.
May 1, 2010
Mark Sickmiller, Speaker
Mark asked us to consider the “Biblical Purpose of a Man” and to answer that question in light of Matthew 11:11-12 which includes these words: “the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”
We realized that what we faced as the
men of Crossbridge was no different than men marching into war and
the preparation necessary, except that ours was a supernatural war.
We are men from another kingdom. We are pilgrims, sojourners,
strangers passing through…
“Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the power of
His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against
flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers,
against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual
hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians
6:10-12
We acknowledged that not only are we kingdom men in a supernatural war, but that our enemy, the devil, wants us to take this all very lightly…but we musn’t. We refuse! God’s house shall be called a house of prayer. Therefore we covenant, with God’s strength, to fight in this war for our families, our church, our community, and ourselves.
We also were pressed to understand the
power of our enemy was such that this cannot be a matter of
willpower. “Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with
the devil…dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but
said ‘The Lord rebuke you!’” Jude 9
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in
God for pulling down strongholds…” 2 Corinthians 10:4
Finally, by faith we claimed the victory…knowing the promises of God. We covenanted to ask boldly and believing for great things! “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works that these he will do, because I go to my Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father my be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:12-14
Practically, we decided to develop our
first two war strategies:
1) Sunday morning prayer warrior: Every Sunday morning a man will
cover the campus and the classrooms with prayer, and then battle in
prayer during the worship service in the sanctuary sideroom.
2) Weekly ‘secret service agents’ for our pastors. Every day during
the week, two men will protect our pastors and their families with
prayer, acting as secret service agents protecting our leaders.
More information will be coming soon.
